The 1st Guangdong Prefabricated Farmhouse Design Competition Award Ceremony was held in Guangzhou

       On the morning of May 10, the ten-month-old first Guangdong Prefabricated Farm House Design Competition officially came to an end. The competition award ceremony was held grandly at the Guangzhou Poly World Trade Expo Center. Yang Qinggan, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, attended the award ceremony and delivered a speech.

       In order to implement the important strategic deployment of the Provincial Party Committee on the implementation of the "High-Quality Development Project of Hundreds of Counties, Thousands of Towns and Thousands of Villages", promote the strengthening of rural housing style management and control, improve the level of rural housing construction, and promote the high-quality development of hundreds of counties, thousands of towns and thousands of villages, combined with our actual work of provincial housing and urban-rural construction, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development guided the Guangdong Provincial Construction Sustainable and Prefabricated Industry Association to launch this Guangdong Prefabricated Farm House Design Competition. With the theme of "Prefabricated rural houses paint a new picture of hundreds of counties, thousands of towns and thousands of villages", it has four categories: Cantonese ethnic group, Chaoshan ethnic group, Hakka ethnic group, and existing residential renovation. This combined with the technical requirements of prefabricated buildings , collecting outstanding design works that are in line with the history, culture and regional characteristics of our province. Since its official launch in July last year, the competition has received strong support from design units and designers inside and outside the province, and has received enthusiastic responses from all walks of life and the people. The competition has received submissions from 63 design units and nearly 700 designers from inside and outside the province. There were 74 works in total, and more than 5 million people participated in the online voting of the competition. During the competition, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development selected Meizhou, Maoming, and Shantou as representative cities in the Hakka, Guangfu, and Chaoshan regions to carry out offline exhibitions of their works. Nearly 10,000 people participated in the offline promotional exhibition. During the Spring Festival, a large number of rural sages returned to their hometowns to participate in voting and put forward many valuable opinions on the entries. After mass voting and expert review, a total of 12 Popularity Award winners and 24 Professional Award winners were selected in this competition, forming an atlas of prefabricated farmhouse design with Lingnan characteristics.

      In recent years, Guangdong Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development has actively promoted prefabricated buildings, improved relevant supporting policies and technical standard systems, and cultivated and improved the upstream and downstream industrial chains. Prefabricated buildings in our province have developed steadily. In 2023, 81.5486 million square meters of prefabricated buildings were newly started in the province, accounting for 28.94% of the new construction area, an increase of 4 percentage points from the end of 2022. A number of prefabricated construction projects with typical demonstration significance have been built across the province, forming a prefabricated construction technology system with Lingnan characteristics. In the field of rural housing construction, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development actively promotes new construction methods, promotes the continuous improvement of the quality, safety, construction level and style of rural housing, guides various regions to carry out the construction or renovation of green rural housing, and issued the "Guangdong Province Rural Housing "Quality, safety, style improvement and rural housing construction pilot action plan", 29,260 green rural houses will be completed or renovated throughout 2023. Actively strive for provincial financial support, and allocate 400 million yuan in funds to promote the construction of new prefabricated farm houses and other green rural housing construction incentives and subsidies, providing assistance to promote the high-quality development of hundreds of counties, thousands of towns, and thousands of villages and the high-quality development of rural housing construction. 

     Wang Yang, deputy secretary of China Academy of Building Research Co., Ltd., and Kang Zhuang, chairman of the Assembly Industry Technology Innovation Alliance, attended the award ceremony. Representatives of housing and urban-rural construction departments in cities above the prefectural level, representatives of relevant associations, experts and scholars, higher education institutions, enterprises, and institutions, totaling about 200 people, participated in the award ceremony.
